What is acupuncture?
People all over the world have used acupuncture and herbs for over 5,000 years.  The philosophy is simple: everything is made of energy.  When our energy is in balance we are well, but if we become over stressed then sickness and disease ensue.  Acupuncture works with the body's energy and with the application of hair thin needles a licensed acupuncturist can fine-tune an individual's unique system.  Modalities such as acupuncture, cupping, gwa sha and herbal therapy help the body regain vital health and wellbeing.  We address your current symptoms as well as the underlying causes.  Our acupuncturists take time to listen to all of your health concerns and design a treatment plan that will help you as safely and efficiently as possible.

Your first visit
Please arrive early to fill out the necessary paperwork.  You will then sit down and discuss your health in detail with one of our acupuncturists.  They will ask you many questions, examine and palpate your body, feel your pulse and then give you a treatment.  During the treatment they will explain your diagnosis, offer lifestyle suggestions, and let you relax.  After a couple of initial treatments we will have a good idea of how many treatments you will need and what other modalities of treatment are appropriate for you.  We will take time to answer your questions and make you feel comfortable. Does it hurt?
Often times you will feel the acupuncture point, but it is not painful.  You may feel a light pressure, tingling, warmness or a gentle pulsing sensation.  If a point is uncomfortable your practitioner can adjust it.  The goal is to feel comfortable during the treatment.

How many treatments will I need?
The amount of treatments you will need depends on how long and how severe the problem is.   Based on the results of your first few treatments we will be able to estimate the amount and frequency of treatment.  There are 3 phases of care: relief care, corrective care and wellness care.  Your practitioner will discuss these phases with you.

Do we take insurance?
Yes!  We take insurance.  It will depend on your plan, deductible, and specific situation how we process your insurance.  We have in and out of network providers.  Upon your first visit we will check your benefits and let you know upon return to your second visit.
