An Adventure in Search of Rocks, Gems and Tumbleweeds
As many of you will know by now, we’ve been pretty busy around here at Indigo Dragon, upgrading our premises, adding an outdoor yoga deck, and revitalizing the center. We felt we needed something energetically positive and beautiful to complement our new look — something that could surround us here during treatments but also something we and our clients could take home. Then it hit us: we needed rocks, gems and tumbleweeds!
So began our short but fruitful adventure to Tuscon, AZ on a 6 seater plane (it pays to have friends who are pilots!), for the annual Rock and Gem show. Jen was lucky enough to have gotten advice from an avid rock collector so we knew to head to one of the numerous parts of town where vendors show off their goods. We saw hotel room after hotel room where gorgeous treasures take the place of mattresses. From tiny gemstones and shark tooth fossils to amethyst geodes twice our height and $100,000 chunks of meteorites hunted from the desserts of Iman, we felt like we left no rock unturned.
We would see something that caught our eye and then hold for a while in our hands to make sure it was just right. That it spoke to us. We found selenite wands and lamps, spirit crystals, nautilus fossils, petrified wood and a different stone for each chakra, just to name a few. It was exhilarating and exhausting. By noon the next day we were ready to come home and we had enough extra weight in stone that it required a rental car and not a 6 seater airplane!
We drove past saguaro cactuses and ocotillo, collected tumbleweed by the roadside, drove through sand storms and hail, torrential downpours, and finally home to Encinitas to the wildest winds I have ever seen here. Remember that night in February?! Good thing we had that extra weight in our car to hold us down.
Over the next few days we prepared what we had found to bring into the clinic. Not only for display and sale but also for work in the rooms, to aid us in treatments, to keep the energy clear and to help balance and re-energize certain chakras for our clients.
The chakra stones we found consist of obsidian, carnelian, tiger’s eye, rose quartz, ocean jasper, green fluorite, and lumerian crystal seeds. These went through an extra step of being energetically cleared under the light of the moon in bowls of water.
And the tumbleweed? Well you’ll just have to wait and see how we will include this at Indigo Dragon…
